Looking back at my past, many who knew me then would vouch for the fact that I was a very sincere child and great student who dreamed of being a software engineer one day just like my peers. But my parents had different plans for me.
They wanted me to do my graduation in commerce and get me married early and get “settled”. They supported their decision by the reason and fact that as the boys in our community are usually not very educated and end up joining family business at a young age, and they wouldn’t like it if I was married to a guy less educated than me. My dreams were shattered, and I sacrificed my dreams of engineering education to take up a B.com. course, only to once again make myself and my family proud by being a topper in the university, which ended up to be an empty victory then, as it was the end of my formal education.
I was then married into a huge joint family, who owned a couple of business ventures. But my husband never wanted to be a part of the family business, so he set up his own business ventures, in which he sought my support throughout.
For about 18 years I was a part of his business ventures and supported him in setting up and running them. I was lucky that my husband empowered me to be the first lady in the family to venture out and not restricted to home, unlike the other ladies of my family. I learnt so much as an entrepreneur. The knowledge and experience I accumulated in purview of starting a business venture from scratch, to taking it to various heights, to the extent of winning various prestigious awards, accolades and recognitions for our restaurant venture. Not to forget, our coverage by ‘Entrepreneur’ magazine for the success of our unique, first of its kind restaurant concept.
I will always remain grateful to my husband for all the fame and recognition received on this journey. Everything sounded perfect- a perfect husband, 2 loving sons, a supportive family, the tag of being a young woman entrepreneur. Also, I got to experience all highs and lows of being an entrepreneur. The joy of creation – seeing ideas comes to life; the anxiety of results; and the stress of challenges which usually erupt on the path to a greater success. My life was already rich of experiences. But there was a kind of emptiness inside me.
Something was lacking somewhere. Probably, ‘meaning’ and ‘fulfilment’. Nothing was mine- Neither passion, nor fame- Neither success nor set-backs. I owed it all to others. I never expressed my feelings to anyone but somehow, my better-half sensed this and enrolled me in a course on image management with train the trainer certification program in the year 2015, and suggested me to explore if it was my calling.
I completed that course and got certified in 2019, (It usually takes a year to complete it, but it took me 4 years) as I was simultaneously pursuing various other courses and trainings in field of personal development, life skills training , business coaching and was yet actively involved in our business ventures. The beginning of my real transformation dates back 31st July 2016, when I happened to attend NAC(National Achiever’s Conference), where Dr. John De Martini(‘The Secret’ fame) was the keynote speaker along with a couple of other phenomenal international speakers and trainers.
Here’s where I got introduced to this whole new world of inspiration, transformation and growth. Year after year, for 6 years of my unlearning and relearning journey, with various Indian and international trainers, I had major breakthroughs leaving behind my limiting beliefs, past conditioning, unworthiness and lack of purpose, with the help of various tools, techniques, methods and mechanisms taught to me by my mentors.
I learnt a lot of entrepreneurial lessons in my life and now it was time to learn about my life’s purpose. ‘Why am I here on this earth as a human being?’, was one question I asked myself again and again. I started learning in depth about life and discovering my higher purpose to live a life that has meaning and gives fulfillment. I am continuously unlearning and relearning since 6 years from world class mentors, trainers and coaches and have transformed my life and built my purpose- “To help people transform to their best versions, like gold after the process of alchemy, by helping them derive CLARITY, develop CONFIDENCE, discover a HIGHER PURPOSE and build a business around it.” I finally realised that inspiring, empowering and transforming individuals by coaching them to rise to thrive in life, was my heart’s calling. My passion to help others and make a meaningful difference in the world kept growing. Helping those, who live a life of unawareness, ambiguity and lack of direction. I took off this journey with the foundation of ‘RISE TO THRIVE’ in April 2019.
The journey was not easy, but the destination is WORTHWHILE. Each day I step out of my comfort zone and create newer experiences and learnings. This helps me expand myself and grow as a person in general & specifically as a purposepreneur (purpose+entrepreneur) If I could figure out my higher purpose and build a business around it, I am sure, everyone can, with some guidance of course.
